A Member of the Greatest Generation, born and raised in central Florida, Dave Crisp joined the Navy as teen, and after being injured, finished his military service in the United States Air Force.  He fought in the Korean and Vietnam wars and throughout his life loved this country and loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

After retiring from the military in 1963 and settling in St Petersburg, he became a member of the Suncoast Tarpon Roundup, and later sat on the Board of Directors for many years. Dave Crisp’s contributions to making this tournament grow spanned decades.  Dave was an Earl Gresh Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winner and one of his greatest joys was sharing his fishing knowledge with those who loved to fish.

The Dave Crisp Memorial Day Trophy is one of the most coveted awards in the Suncoast Tarpon Roundup. On Monday, May 25, anglers will be vying to release the most fish during the 24hr period to win it. The Dave Crisp Memorial Day trophy is in remembrance of all those men and women who have served this country and paid the price for the freedoms we continue to enjoy. Since his passing in 1999, his family has been proud to sponsor this trophy and support the Suncoast Tarpon Roundup.
