Announcing the 88th Suncoast Tarpon Roundup
The Suncoast Tarpon Roundup is truly a Florida classic tradition celebrating the most sought-after gamefish in World! This is our 88th year and we are excited to continue the longest running tarpon tournament in the world!!!
This year, we are honored to have Task Force Dagger Foundation as our beneficiary. Task Force Dagger provides assistance to wounded, ill, or injured US Special Operations Command members and their families. They respond to urgent needs, conduct Rehabilitative Therapy Events, and provide the next generation health solutions for issues facing our service members. They are a rally point to combat traumatic brain injury, Post Trumatic Stress, and environmental exposures. Their cohesive programs enable families to seize the moment and live life.
The Suncoast Tarpon Roundup strives to provide a safe, educational, and entertaining forum for anglers of all ages, and we’re excited to continue this tradition for our 88th year.
The Tournament Series
2022 will feature a free-entry “Tune-Up” event in on May 14th, followed by a 2-part fishing series (May 28 and June 11) and Finale day (July 30). We will also host a Junior’s Tournament, and an Awards Banquet honoring the top 5 teams from each series and Finale Day winners.
- The Tune-Up Tournament, May 14
We are excited to have our “Tarpon Tune-up Tournament” to kick off Tarpon season. This will be a free team event with the top three teams awarded entries into the series tournament. - Two-Part Series and Finale Day, May 28, June 11, July 30
The 2022 Suncoast Tarpon Roundup will host a 2-part series and Finale Day. The top 5 teams for each part in the series will be awarded prizes, and the top 25 teams from part 1 and 2 will qualify for finale day!
Entry Fees are $900 per Team for 3 Tournaments ($300 per event)
Captains Meetings at the Harbor Master Tiki Grille, Bay Pines Marina. All registered anglers will receive two free complementary craft beers and shrimp boil at each Captains Meeting. - Juniors Tournament, July 16
The 2022 Juniors Tournament will be on July 16, 2022. The Captains meeting will be July 14. Juniors must be 17 and under to participate. - Specialty Awards
In continuing traditions of the Suncoast Tarpon Roundup, we will be awarding 7 specialty trophies throughout the 2022 season.- Rick Wotring Award – Tune-up Winner, May 14
- Mark Travis Award – First Tarpon released during the 2022 season
- ML Baylees Award – Lady Angler with most releases
- Jimmy Groves Award – Team with most releases
- Scott Sterling Award – Veteran with most releases
- Capt Sonny Aylesworth Award – Finale Day Winner
